On Tuesday, women involved in professional sports spoke at the TIME Women of the Year Leadership Forum in Los Angeles on Tuesday, moderated by TIME CEO Jessica Sibley.
The panel included World Cup champion and gold medalist Kelley O’Hara, two-time Olympian and gold medalist Jordan Chiles, ESPN commentator and former WNBA All-Star Chiney Ogwumike, and chair of Deloitte U.S., Lara Abrash.
Ogwumike said that collective action does not just need to happen among teams, but also among sports. She recalled how former soccer star and O’Hara’s former teammate Megan Rapinoe gave players of the WNBA notes to use for their own fight for better pay in women’s basketball.
