Trump: Oil tankers should use Strait of Hormuz

President Trump on Wednesday encouraged oil tankers to travel through the Strait of Hormuz — the critical waterway through which about one-fifth of the world's oil transits — insisting it was safe despite attacks on three vessels in the region earlier in the day.   "I think they should. I think they should use the strait," he told reporters while departing the White House.   The president said he did not believe Iran had successfully laid any mines in the strait, saying the U.S. had eliminated "just about all" of Tehran's mine-laying ships.   "We took out just about all of their mine ships in one night," he said, suggesting as many as 60 Iranian boats had been struck. "Just about all of their navy is gone."   Shipping through the Strait of Hormuz has effectively come to a standstill since the war began Feb. 28, spiking global oil and gas prices.
